COVID-19 2nd Wave: DGP sanctions Rs 44.10 lakh relief for affected cops | KNO

Srinagar, May 25 (KNO): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 44.10 lakh as special relief in favour of 882 police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police who had got infected by the COVID-19. Since the outbreak of the 2nd wave of COVID-19, the J&K police personnel have been working day in and day out in implementing the government directives to check the spread of COVID-19, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads. “Despite precautionary measures, many policemen on ground are contracting the disease and getting infected. To provide them some financial assistance DGP, J&K sanctioned the relief of Rupees 44.10 lakh in favour of 882 COVID affected police personnel.” The statement reads that the amount has been sanctioned out of Police Pariwar Fund through two different orders issued by the police headquarters today. Under these orders, Rs 5,000 each has been sanctioned in favour of these affected police personnel. The move is part of the assistance provided by the Police Department to personnel affected by COVID-19, since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. Worth to mention here that police headquarters during last year sanctioned special relief of Rupees 52 lakh in favour of 966 COVID affected police personnel. Under one order 345 personnel have been granted special assistance. Among them, one is posted in IGP Kashmir Zone office, 10 in IGP Armed Kashmir office, two in DIG Armed Srinagar office, two in FA/CAO PHQ, 49 in District Srinagar, nine in District Budgam, eight in District Ganderbal, 44 in district Anantnag, five in district Kulgam, eight in district Pulwama, one each in District Shopian and Police District Awantipora, six in PCR Jammu, 15 in District Baramulla, five in Police District Sopore, two in District Kupwara, six in District Handwara, 24 in District Bandipora, three in PCR Kashmir, one in ACB Kashmir, seven in CID SB Kashmir, two in CID CI Kashmir, four in Crime Kashmir, three in Crime Jammu, five in PTWS J&K, 19 in Railway Kashmir, nine in Security Kashmir, 13 in Telecom Kashmir, five in Traffic City Srinagar, eight in JKAP 5th BN, one in JKAP 9th Bn, three in JKAP 11th Bn, four in JKAP 12th Bn, two in JKAP 13th Bn, five in JKAP 14th Bn, five in IRP 3rd Bn, four in IRP 4th Bn, three in IRP 6th Bn, two in IRP 8th Bn, one in IRP 10th Bn, five in IRP 11th Bn, seven in IRP 13th Bn, one each in IRP 14th Bn and IRP 17th Bn, five in IRP 20th Bn, six in IRP 21st Bn, one in IRP 23rd Bn and eight in Police Hospital Srinagar. Under another order, 537 police personnel have been granted special assistance.
